Delicately balanced tools that are the planes of the
spindle turners kit. Designed at Robert Sorby, the
profile allows the tool to glide effortlessly along
the tool rest without fear of the edges dragging on
the rest. They will smooth cylinders, clean the end
grain of spindles, cut shallow curves, beads, pummels
and v-cuts, eg stair ballustrading and chair legs.
These tools are indispensible if a fine finish is
required from the tool.

weight. This makes them superb for large spindle work
e.g. newel posts and kitchen table legs.

Round skews have been the choice of many production
turners over the years. Intended for use on spindlework,
their round shape makes these tools highly manoeuvrable
in creating beads, coves and other details. Available
in three sizes, these round skews can be used on
work from fine miniatures to large structural projects.
